This is the last block for my BOM quilt. And here are the blocks together with sashing and cornerstones:
The blocks were supposed to be 12 1/2" unfinished. The two with curved seams I had to trim down, so they were 12 1/4", but I didn't think it would be a problem. Somehow, when I checked before sewing I missed that there were one or two larger than 12 1/2". I tried to compensate for minor differances when joining to the sashing, but it didn't work.
I'm thinking it needs to be ripped out, but I really, really don't want to do that much ripping. But if it needs to be done...
Alternatively, maybe I could try to stitch the scant seams deeper, drown any in question with Fray-Check, trim the outer sashing strips even with the bottom row, add the remaining borders, and hope the sweet lady I'm giving this to forgets to wear her glasses every time she looks at it?

If you do not mind having your points cut off the outside edges, take the sashing off and trim the blocks to the same size. If all the points are cut off it will not matter. If they are cut off a lot it will look like you intended that. OR adjust seams according to block size using a 1.5 stitch length. Serpentine/zigzag edges as well.
Fingers are faster than the brain today. You can also border each block in various widths to make the blocks the same size. Start with the larger blocks. Determine which minimum size border looks best eg 3/4" finished and go from there then sash all blocks. OR make the borders larger and no sashing.
Clear as mud?!
I know you don't want to do alot of ripping out, but your blocks are so lovely, I think you'll be much happier if you take it apart now and fix the sizing. However you do it, adding, subtracting, I think you'll be muhc happier in the end to have it look right. It's not so bad to rip out. I do it all the time!
