Q3 Finish-a-long Goals

my camera jumped ship and left me high and dry with no way to take any lovely new pictures for you, so I'm going to do my best to put together my list with old photos.  It shouldn't be too hard since most of these things have been 'in progress' for a ridiculous amount of time :)

1.

the penguin quilt is actually a finished top now, and I have the backing.  Just need to baste, quilt, and bind.

2.

I'm putting the cracker quilt on here just for fun.  It is highly unlikely that I'll completely finish it this quarter, but maybe the top will get done.

3.

Dragonfly Sashiko needs to become a finished something-or-other

4.

i'm still hand stitching the binding on my going coastal quilt, and it really needs to be done.  No, it doesn't take this long to hand stitch binding, I've just been lazy ;)

5.

I need to make a Mondo bag

6.

this top still needs to be quilted

7.

these HSTs are much farther along than this now, but still need some work.  almost to the baste and quilt stage, though.

That is all I'm going to put on my list.  I have other things in the works, but since my camera has been missing I don't have pictures of any of my recent work.  {Grrr...}

I missed the party

I guess I'll be over here in my own little corner working on my WIPs, since I missed the Q2 FAL linky party.  And it is a long WIP list, too.  Hopefully failing to link up on time is not indicative of how much success I will have working my way through my WIPs :) 1. 36 patch blocks - I need to make two more blocks before assembling the top

2. turn these vintage pillowcases into laundry bags - I want to make at least three of these, maybe five



3.  this fabric needs to be sewn into pj pants.  I wanted these to be done for last Christmas, which obviously didn't happen.  so now I'm getting a head start for next Christmas, right? :)



4. a Mondo bag from these Japanese fabric scraps



5.  Cracker quilt from these 30's fabrics



6.  & 7.  are both in the next photo - the blue / green fabric stack in the back is for a 'brick' quilt, and the rest of the fabrics are for the Lucky Stars QAL that I obviously didn't get very far with :)



8, 9, and 10 are in the next photo.  they are a new Sashiko project, a Vintage Modern jelly roll that had started to be one thing, but then I ripped out the stitches and I'm planning something different now, and two FQs and a zipper to make a boxy pouch with.



and there are some 'roll over' projects from last quarter:

11. Going Coastal zig zags - I don't have any new photos, but the top is done and my Mom is getting ready to quilt it on the longarm for me.  The back makes me very happy; I pieced it from my collection of lobster fabrics.

12.  split rail fence - still needs to be basted and quilted

13.  making pillowcases - ironic because I have some pillowcases I am turning into something else :)

14.  penguin quilt - I can't look at another piece of fabric without my son commenting that I still haven't finished his penguin quilt, or it seems like I forgot all about his penguin quilt.  Oh, the Mama guilt ;)

I guess that is enough for now - after all, we all know I am not going to finish all 14 WIPs on this list,  during baseball season no less, but this way I'm covered no matter what I feel like working on when I do get the chance to sew :)

Bye-Bye March

here is what I sewed in March:




I quilted and bound my Madrona Road quilt finally, and I LOVE it!  soon I should have proper pics, the weatherman is promising sunshine!




I finished a fabric basket for a friend, and mostly made a baby quilt - it has been sitting around waiting for the last 18 inches or so of the binding to get sewn down.  I know none of you procrastinate over little things like that, right? ;)  hehe

another quilty finish - a star quilt :)

and, even though the progress isn't picture worthy yet, i did a ton of work on my Going Coastal Crab quilt.  seriously, how can you put hours into a quilt and not have any significantly picture worthy progress to show?  it is taking much longer than expected to join the rows together.  {there are 26 rows, and some of them are massive.  I think I accidentally made this thing queen sized.}  for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here is the last picture I took of it laid out, rows not joined together -

Ok, February's lovely year of finishes goal wasn't a win, but I'm back for round 2.

My goal for March is finishing my Going Coastal quilt top.  See you at the end of month link up :)

February in review

I finished the top of a split rial fence quilt top in more earthy colors:




and I was forced to admit defeat on my February lovely year of finishes goal :(




I was all set up with Netflix and thread to stitch late into the night to get the binding finished, but I've been sick for weeks and by 10:00 pm local time, I had to admit I just didn't have it in me for a late night of stitching, even though the linky still had 5 hours before closing.

A Lovely February Finish {I hope}

well, I'm linking up, and here is my hopeful finish for February:

Yup, Madrona road.  Which might be a bit silly of me, since I have two other not-quite-tops spread around in pieces that I need to take care of before I start working on Madrona Road again.  At least those two other hopfully-soon-to-be-tops are on my 1st quarter finishalong list.  I'm being a good girl and working on my WIPs  :)

Hi everybody!  I've decided to join the finish-a-long!  Here is my list of hopeful finishes for the first quarter: 1.   Madrona Road - this has been a top for ages.  It is time for it to be a finished quilt.

2.  Going Coastal Zig Zags



3.  My son's penguin quilt



4. & 5.  a stack of half-finished pillowcases with these fabrics & a quilt with these same fabrics.  Every time I try to get pictures of it, the photo shoot is an epic fail, but trust me, it exists.  In fact, I'm hand sewing the binding down.  {I know, a bit of a gimmie}



6.  my accidental HST quilt



7.  split rail fence - this hasn't appeared on the blog yet.  I'll share more soon.



this is a very ambitious list for me, but what the heck - aim high, right?

Priorites

 

 

My three goals for November:

1.  Make more inventory for the two craft shows I entered.  I'll pretty much be chained to my sewing machine for the next two weeks, desperately trying to make a decent showing for the fairs.  No, Allison can't come out to play today, she has too much sewing to do.

 

2.  Finish the penguin quilt for Son #3.  The good news is I haven't heard anything about sea cucumbers lately. {if you don't know what I'm talking about, read this}  I bet I could make a sea cucumber softie, though.  One that spits out it's guts... {this would be so awesome to put in his Christmas stocking!}

 

 

3. 

 

I'm participating in the UR Priceless blog hop, which means I have to sew at least one coin purse, but I'd like to sew three.  Why three?  I don't know, it just seemed like a good idea, and I'm sticking with it.

 

Add large pots of homemade soup, some pumpkin lattes & biscotti, and that about sums up my plans for the next month.  :)    What are you hoping to get done in November?





a list for April...

In an effort to be intentional about my sewing priorities, I'm making a 'to-sew' list for April and linking up to To Do First @ Lawson and Lotta.  I'm looking forward to the challenge of revisiting my list at the end of the month to see how I did :)

Must Do

4. duffle bag for my quilt retreat in a few weeks
5. 4 Pink Penguin fabric buckets
6. 3 album blocks
7. a stacked coins top made from a jelly roll
8. finish cutting 2.5" squares for a swap over at The Curious Quilter
9. tidy up my sewing room - Amylouwho is going to have a link-up for before & after pictures.  I took the 'before' pics already.  It's downright embarassing. 
10. Stay open to whatever sewing whims hit me during April :)

Might Do {as if that first list isn't overly optimistic :) }
1. DP pillow - I have 4 leftover blocks from  my DP quilt, and I can't let them go to waste, can I? :)
2. Disappearing Nine Patch - I started this last fall, and I haven't touched it for at least three  months. I'm just looking for progress, not a finish on this one.
