Friday Sashiko Finish

I finished stitching my dragonfly sashiko,




now I need to make it up into a finished something-or-other.  probably a pillow :)

thanks to the many doctor appointments and sports events I have been to for my boys, I am nearly done stitching the dragonfly sashiko.  {I take it with me most places we go}

soon I will need to have a rummage through my stash and decide what this will be sewn up into.

Fresh Sewing Day

 

Happy Saturday everyone!!  Whoo hoo for the weekend!! 

 

I thought I'd take a moment and look back at the month that was May {where did it go?!?} and link up with Lily's Quilts.  Care to join me? :)

 

PicMonkey, my laptop, and I tried to make a beautiful collage for you but we went round and round without much success and I finally had to admit that the threesome wasn't working out today.  Another time, another place and it could have been magical.  But we went our separate ways for now; I really think it was for the best.  And even though you deserve so much more, there is just a rehashing of old photos to follow :)

I finished my Sashiko pillow - the kids have put in a request for another one like it :)

Also in May, although unblogged as of yet, I went on a quilt retreat!  It was a fantastic, rainy time and I accomplished a lot of sewing that hasn't made it onto my blog yet but will hopefully be showing up soon.

A Little Retail Therapy

Yesterday I went down to Manchester, NH for a day out with my SIL & Mom.  Kid-free time in a quilty environment with a good dose of retail therapy was just what we needed  :)

I didn't bring my camera, but I can tell you that the two big trends in the quilts on display were rhinestones and naked men.  I don't think either one will be showing up in my own work anytime soon ;)

I was super happily surprised to see Sew Fresh Fabrics had a booth at the show!  Sew Fresh Fabrics is one of my fav online shops, so I was excited to peruse their selection in person!  I managed to contain myself, and resisted the urge to jump up and down and squeal 'I love your shop!' to the lovely ladies in the booth, but it took all my self control.  Which explains the strawberries and chocolate Mississippi Mud cake I had for dinner :)

These two prints were a great find for my lobster fabric collection.  Maybe this summer I will finally put them all in a quilt?

Aren't these little Japanese Kitties the cutest? 

But the one purchase I'm most excited about is my little Sashiko kit.  The design was pre-marked on the fabric, and will wash out when I'm finished.  Perhaps I will make this into a small pillow, with the kitties for the fabric on the back  :)
