fabric on my mind

There is a stack of fabric that has been in my stash for a long while, and which has lately been on my mind.  I decided to take it out and show you today.

At one point in time I planned to make a pine burr quilt with these fabrics.  That design is still on my 'someday' list, but I've decided to do make something else with these fabrics for donation quilts.

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything exactly like the design I know as pine burr, but here are the closest I found here, here and here.

The fabric across the top of the first picture turns from pink to orange to yellow back to orange and then pink from selvedge to selvedge.  There is enough of it for backing.

I don't have a plan yet.  I need to make a quilt that finishes approx. 44" x 58".  Do you have any suggestions of what I should make with these?

They are delightful! A Turning Twenty type quilt would be easy and show off the prints.

I'm sorry but I don't really follow patterns, just make things up as I go along, so I can't really help you with that but I have to say that I love the pink blender (polka dot? Can't see it properly on my phone) in the middle. X

Of course I love this color palette! That tripping daisy fabric is divine and will definitely make a great backing--maybe even a binding elsewhere. Pattern wise, maybe all equilateral triangles might show off those lovely colors well, while also taking a simpler cue from your original pine burr idea!

What a lovely bright bundle! What about a 4 patch or a window kind of block? :-)

donation quilts are such a wonderful project. I do suggest that you pick a simple design rather than something complex. i use my Bee to do donation quilts. I think it helps to speed the process. These fabrics will look fab. Good on you for pulling them to sew for someone in need.
